Welcome Messages

MSG of Dpt CEO

Message from the Deputy CEO

Welcome to the TES family. Since 1980, when Gulf English School (GES) was incorporated, year after year, I see GES is growing beyond expectations, not just in breadth but also in depth. The key to our continued success is adherence to our core values which have remained intact since the beginning. We are excited to celebrate our 44th year Anniversary in 2024 and we will continue our successful journey for more and more years to come.

We are passionate about education and are extremely committed to supporting and actively promoting all of the pillars of Kuwait’s National Vision through the diversity of our businesses. We promote a sense of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) throughout all of our establishments.

GES School is vibrant and welcoming international school providing a first-class education that will enable all of our pupils to thrive in today’s dynamic global environment. GES lies at the heart of its local community and we appreciate the ongoing role we play in community integration and development.

Our school is dedicated to improving the educational attainment and life chances of all our pupils regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion or ability. Our core purpose is to ensure that every pupil gains as much from the time spent at a GES as they can. This is based on our fundamental belief that all learners can, need and want to achieve.

While we are academically rigorous, we believe success at school is much more than mastery of the year’s academic work. We are committed to ensuring that all of our pupils develop to their full potential as young people.

I thank my dedicated staff, our business partners and all our clients for achieving this milestone. GES stands proud and tall because of you. With your continued support, trust and loyalty, there can only be fruitful days ahead.

We wish you a long and successful association with TES family and look forward to your valuable contribution towards fulfillment of the organizations Vision and Mission.

Message from the School Director

Mr Graeme Garrett

Welcome to Gulf English School, Kuwait. We are a Primary and Secondary school with a long and proud tradition of serving the educational needs of our community. We are celebrating our 44th year Anniversary in 2024 and we will continue to strive for another 44 years and more.

At GES we place great emphasis on the academic, physical and social growth of each individual student. As a school community we continue to nurture the uniqueness of our students and we strive to educate each young person to reach their potential and enable them to be the best that they can be.

It is my honour and privilege to be the Director of such a distinguished school and one steeped with such a rich history.  The Gulf English School is undoubtedly a jewel of British Education with very high academic standards and a passion for learning.  The school has well over one thousand pupils, and the competitive entry for places in many year groups reflects its standing in Kuwait.

The pages of our website will hopefully furnish you with some insight into our school and its history, although this is no substitute for a personal visit and first-hand experience of the school, which can be arranged in advance, owing to Covid restrictions.

As per the Mission Statement (found on the Website) the school pursues high standards in education and encourages its students to be independent learners, within a moral framework.  The modern student not only requires good academic skills, they need to be open-minded, able to analyse, think critically, question, be flexible and prepared for the challenges they will face in and beyond education.

Today’s world is a dynamic place with a fast pace of change and students need to be able to adapt their talents and skills to accommodate this change.  As educators, our duty is to ensure that the students in our care are better educated than previous generations and are able and committed to making a significant contribution to the world in which they live.

The school has an impressive record of examination success when compared with standards locally and globally. This success secures places for our students for a wide range of courses and career paths at the very best universities locally and beyond.

Should you require more information about the Gulf English School please feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to assist.

With my very best wishes,

Graeme Garrett

School Director GES

Mr John McGrath

Hello, my name is John McGrath. I have been working in GES since 2021

After completing my BA at UCRYSJ and then my Initial Teacher Training at Newcastle University, I began my career as a History and Geography teacher in 1994. In 2018, having spent 24 years as a teacher and school leader in a variety of different Secondary Schools in the North of England, I decided to move to Kuwait and have spent the last three year working as a Vice-Principal in an American School in the city before joining GES.

Head of Secondary

I believe that being a teacher is not just a job but also a privilege. Being able to be part of a child’s progression each day and seeing them grow to become young adults ready to explore and succeed in the world brings as much joy and satisfaction now as it has always.

I look forward to meeting you all as I continue to be part of the GES family
